Imagine it! Reading curriculum
We will be using the Imagine It curriculum this year at all walk to read levels. Your child will be bringing home decodables each night so these would be a great tool to read for your 20 minutes a night. The decodables practice the lessons that we covered in class as well as building fluency and confidence within your child. Make sure they are finger tracking while they read so they are seeing the word each time. It is okay if it seems that they memorized it. As long as they are seeing the word when they say it, it is imprinting.

Math connects curriculum
Math Connects is the math curriculum we use in class. We do a lesson,, and then they reflect and choose a green, red, or blue sheet to measure there understanding. Green means they understood it and wanted a challenge, red means they got it but may need a little help, and blue means they didn't understand and needed help from the teacher. We will be sending home the workbooks when we are done with them and sometimes there may not be a workbook page done. This could be because we did something else to enforce the skill, or it is not a common core standard.

Writing Curriculum
We do not have a required curriculum for writing but we do use STEP UP to Writing as a supplemental program. We also will be using Lucy Calkins Small Moments stories. :Lucy Calkins teaches children about the writing process and using their own experience to write small moment stories. They learn to organize their thoughts, and add detail through questioning. Students will be learning to TOUCH, TELL, SKETCH, and WRITE. We will be publishing their stories as well as using a writing workshop that will show them different modes of writing.
Science
Science is provided for us in kits from BECHTEL. Our science kits include patterns, force, and organisms this year. At the end of the year if provided the time we may get into dinosaurs which is an all time favorite for everyone!
